On a Personal Note...
Blustery Day
by Brandon Jubar
I'm not ready for winter. But judging by the drop in temperature and the incredibly high winds outside, nature doesn't seem to care what I think.
I was attending a meeting in a second floor conference room that has an incredible view of a wooded area, when I suddenly realized that what was going on outside was much more interesting than what was happening inside.
The wind was whipping through the trees, sending thousands of leaves swirling into the sky. Trees that had already lost most or all of their leaves barely moved, in sharp contrast to the animated bowing and swaying of those trees that were catching the full force of the wind.
Inside the conference room, the hum of the overhead projector and drone of the presenter's voice seemed oddly out of place with the windswept dance that nature was performing a mere few feet away. There we sat, hearing about the latest corporate reorganization, sheltered from the harsh reality of the natural world. Yet even the normally sound resistant glass of the conference room gave an occasional shudder as the gale-force wind pounded it from the outside.
I found myself shaking my head in wonder and amazement. I don't like the wind and cold, generally speaking, but a day like today fills me with awe when I remember that our God made all of this.
The greatest technology, the coolest computer graphics, the most cutting edge science known to man -- none of it can even come close to matching the beauty, power and majesty of this cold and blustery day.
Peace,
~Brandon
